Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope this letter finds you enjoying the summer and the warm weather. I wanted to introduce myself to you. It is a privilege and honor to have been named the principal of Davenport Ridge Elementary School. I have admired the Stamford Public Schools for quite some time and knew that I wanted to become a part of a dynamic team that places a total emphasis on student achievement and learning. While an employee of the Norwalk Public Schools, I had the opportunity to participate in the Urban School Leader’s Fellowship Program with several Stamford leaders. I enjoyed the conversations and challenges that were presented regarding urban education. I was impressed by the Stamford cohort and knew that I would one day seek a career in the district. I am passionate about teaching and learning, specifically urban education and have had many successful leadership experiences in public schools. I am a strong believer in 21st century skills and preparing students to not only succeed in school, but as life-long learners.

I am very excited and honored to serve as your principal. Also, I am excited to have Amy Beldotti as the assistant principal as she has demonstrated a strong commitment to Stamford students and district policy. I plan on working closely with students, parents and staff in the best interest of the entire student population of Davenport. I am passionate about education and look forward to the challenges that are ahead of us this year in terms of improving student achievement.

At the same time, I am aware of the strong relationship between the home and the school that exists at our school. Therefore, I urge you to become a member of our PTO and volunteer as often as your schedule permits for our wonderful events. Research demonstrates that when there is a strong partnership between the home and the school, students will succeed at high levels.

In closing, I am honored to serve as your principal. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at school. I look forward to a great 2011-12 school year. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Michael Pisseri

Principal
