One of the goals of any organization should be to ensure effective means of communication are available, where everyone can be heard. As part of a communication infrastructure, we would like to implement a suggestion box. We believe this tool could also help in strengthening the communication between those parents that are not able to come to school regularly or feel too shy to approach someone with ideas.

What is the Suggestion Box Not?
The suggestion box is not a gripe box.

How will it Work?
The submission should not be anonymous. Suggestions should be reasonably well thought through and as much supporting documentation as needed and easily produced should be included with the suggestion. At the same time, we don't want to discourage ideas without elaborate documentation.

Each suggestion will be acknowledged, including the determination of what will be done with the suggestion (recommend implementation, study further, reject, etc.). Recommendations for implementation will be presented to the PTO Executive Board for voting. Those recommendations that are to be implemented will be assigned to a specific area for implementation. The suggestion box will be monitored; progress and status report will be given at the PTO General meetings.
